Superfund: A Superfund site is any land in the United States that has been contaminated by hazardous waste and identified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a candidate for cleanup because it poses a risk to human health and/or the environment. 14 In , Valley County was created by the Idaho State legislature. Prior to that, it had been part of Boise County and Idaho County, both of which were created when Idaho was a territory. The portion of Boise County appears to have been in the North Fork of the Payette River drainage.

Glaciers formed in the area now known as Valley County, Idaho, one feeding into the northern part of Long Valley, where Payette Lake is now, and several in the adjacent mountains. The road from Yellow Pine to Stibnite was built in and '29, after Coxes came. "Before that road was built, Clark [Cox] freighted the doors and windows for the Stibnite mining camp. He used the old Thunder Mountain road, starting at Twin Bridges, up the mountain, across Riordan Creek, and on over the Meadow Creek hill into Stibnite.

Cascade is the seat of Valley County and the nearest town to Yellow Pine. Yellow Pine is a small village, located about 68 miles from Cascade, and about miles from Boise, Idaho. Thunder Mountain, Stibnite, Roosevelt, and Big Creek (Edwardsburg) were once home to many people - not to mention the old "primitive area" down Big Creek itself. Archaeological and historical studies indicate that antimony and its mineral sulfides have been used by humans for at least six millennia. The alchemist Basil Valentine is sometimes credited with “discovering” the element; he described the extraction of metallic antimony from stibnite in his treatise “The Triumphal Chariot of.A reconnaissance of the Bear Valley district was undertaken to provide a geologic interpretation of placer deposits drilled by the U.S.

The monazite is an accessory mineral in the granitic country rock; the radioactive blacks.
