Illustrations of the blue crab in its various stages of growth accompany the text. Crabbing seasons begins April 1 and ends December Hours are typically from dawn to dusk, though that can depend on location and the time of year.
The best time of day for guaranteeing a successful catch is about one to two hours before and after high tide. That's when the water is at its peak movement, making it easier for catching crabs.

If you drop off a pot in an area of no current at LOW SLACK tide, and do not allow a extra long amount of line. Crabbing trips require minimal gear, often available for rent in coastal towns, and while boat crabbing increases your likelihood for success, dockside crabbing is easy and very accessible.
